Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar – Slap Shot Signatures Player Profile

Kevin Pillar, known to Toronto Blue Jays as “Superman” was born on January 4 1989 and was drafted to the Toronto Blue Jays in the 32nd Round (979th overall) of the 2011 MLB Draft.

On August 14, 2013 Pillar was called up to the Toronto Blue Jays making his major league debut against the Boston Red Sox and was given the uniform number 22. His first career hit and RBI was on August 20th 2013 and his first home run on August 24th 2013.

Kevin PillarIn 2015 and now wearing number 11, Pillar made several highlight reel catches and was named Blue Jays Player of the month for June of that season, batting .365 which was 4th in the AL, 5 stolen bases, and 18 RBI’s. Pillar finished the 2015 season batting .278 with 12 homeruns, 56 RBI’s and 25 stolen bases.  Pillar went to work again in the 2015 ALDS with his spectacular catches and helped the Jays go to the ALCS with a .333 batting average with 1 home run and 4 RBI.  His highlight season ended with a nomination for the Gold Glove award for centre Fielders and was named the 2015 Wilson Defensive Player of the Year!

Kevin Pillar is probably most well-known for his defence and amazing catches in the outfield. Pillar covers a lot of ground out in centre field and puts his body on the line without a second thought. It didn’t take long this year for him to make the highlight reels and he has been there more often then not. His spectacular catches and highlight reel plays have made Kevin Pillar an fan favorite but also the Toronto Blue Jays own version of Superman!
